Food in London

When visiting England, two foods you have to try are fish and chips and pastys. Fish and chips is battered and fried cod with fries (or "chips" in the UK), and pastys are a savory pastry filled with meat and potatoes.
London's diversity also means that there's a wide variety of non-English foods to try as well.

Fish 'n Chips, unfortunately this particular fish 'n chips was mediocre

West Cornwall Pasty Co.
On another note, the Google Nexus 5's camera has terrible auto-focus. It's like the camera is always drunk...

Pastys are a must have while you're in London! It's like a meat pie that's been folded in half.

sausages

chicken wings

City Best Kebab

Kebabs from City Best Kebab. Yeah, it's not a great photo, there's plenty of meat down there under the vegetables.

Chinatown for deserts, because we're Asian like that.

Ninja Restaurant in New York City

A ninja themed restaurant in the TriBeCa neighborhood where the waiters are dressed in ninja attire and perform various displays and tricks while serving food.

The food itself was pretty mediocre, sushi rolls were barely holding together and the steak didn't have much flavor.  Of course, with themed restaurants like this, most of the quality comes from the service. The waiters were very friendly and entertaining. Strictly speaking, they weren't exactly ninja-like, but they kept things lively. The restaurant also featured an in-house magician who went from table to table.
Oh, and there's fire. Lots of fire.

Hot Pot in Taiwan

Maybe this wasn't a good time to start a traveling blog. My originally planned travel is postponed because of unforeseen medical expenses. So I need to plan some cheaper, more local trips.

In the mean time, here's a post from previous travel. Taiwan!
Hot pot in Taiwan to be specific. This restaurant is from the night market (夜市) in Pingtung (屏東) though we went during lunch.

Hot pot consists of a large, boiling pot of stock in the middle where everyone at the table cooks various ingredients such as thin-cut meat as well as vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, fish balls and pretty much anything. This particular restaurant is one of my favorites and has some of the best hot pot meat and sacha (沙茶) sauce.

Hot pot with stock and vegetables.

The raw meat before being cooked.

Sacha sauce and raw egg yolk. The raw egg is mostly only in Taiwanese hotpot and is mixed together with the sacha sauce and used as a dipping sauce. And yes, the egg is eaten raw ^_^

Tofu

Fish balls (minced fish meat, formed into a ball shape).

布丁 (Custard Pudding) [followup]

By the way, this is what store bought custard pudding looks like:
 in original packaging

out on a plate

This was from 7-Eleven in Taiwan and can be found all over the country (both the 7-Elevens and the pudding). They even give you a tiny spoon when you buy it so you can eat it straight from the container.
